New to yoga? No worries! Yoga Divina Panama welcomes all levels of students, from first-timers to those who have been taking classes for years.
Yoga Therapy is about working with your goals. Each session is tailored to your needs, whether you want to gain relief from chronic pain, facilitate injury recovery, improve flexibility, reduce stress, improve well-being, get help with depression.
Yoga means "yoke," to bring together. When we practice yoga, we are bringing breath and movement together. We are becoming more aware of our movements and our breathing and learning to control both. By becoming more aware of our breath and movement we can slowly start to move with ease.
A group yoga class typically last about one hour. Hatha yoga is generally a gentle, non-aerobic form of exercise. There are many styles of yoga and at Yoga Divina we really focus in on slowing down. We will practice different stretches (asanas). We will also pay attention to our breathing and learn to extend and control our breath. Group classes are great if you want to start, however private class are really designed for you and your needs.
By the end of a yoga class, many people report feeling relaxed, energized, stretched and perhaps a bit calm. Many consider this a meaningful benefit in itself. However, without regular practice, it is unlikely that performing yoga will provide any long-term benefit. For this reason, I encourage you to practice a few times a week, if not daily. You can spend anywhere from 5 minutes a day to an hour or more.
See the Class Descriptions page for more details.
Absolutely not! Anyone can do yoga! As a matter of fact, people with the least amount of flexibility are my favorite clients! "Why?" you ask, because after just a few classes you will notice a huge difference. Flexibility in reality is not measured by the ability to touch your toes with your legs straight. If you need to bend you knees, bend them! Not only is this easier, but it feels good.
There are many ways to tell.
As a Yoga Teacher I am frequently asked "What is the difference between a Yoga Instructor and Yoga Therapist?" There is no real standard for Yoga Therapy and anyone can say they are a Yoga Therapist. My advanced ISHTA course took 2 years to complete. There was a lot of time to learn, practice, observe my teachers, train and learn. Someone with as little as 200 hours of teacher training, a course that can be done in less that 2 weeks or online, in theory can claim to be a Yoga Therapist. In order to weed out the new-comers from the professionals, here are some questions to ask when considering working with a yoga therapist:
