Yoga Yoga Yoga, I could not imagine a life without yoga. I don't mean me and my practice, I mean I already know how much I love it, but because I can share yoga with others and hopefully they love it so much, they too will share with others.
I grew up in Los Angeles and NYC. After a lifetime of yoga, (more than 20 yrs) I realized that yoga along with my humor kept me in a good place mentally and physically after an intense 2001. It was then that I began my journey to be a yoga teacher so that I could share this great science with others. I have been a teaching as a yoga therapist for almost 10 years
I am an E-RTY 500 hr certified teacher. The "E" means expierence. Along with expierence comes knowledge and wisdom on how the body moves, breathes and can feel.
I studied with some great teachers: Alan Finger, Dana Flynn, Shiva Rea, and Nischala Joy Devi, Gary Kraftsow Twee Merrigan and more. I first started my teachers training as a way to further my own understanding about yoga, but also as a way to help heal myself and then others. Soon realized there was a lot more to yoga than meets the eye. I am most fascinated with yoga therapy.
If you were to ask me "what kind of yoga do you teach?" I teach the kind of yoga you need. Yoga therapy is about you and your body and where you are today and where you want to be in 30 - 60 - 90 days.
As a therapist I bring in my 20+ years of experience, training and teachings I have taken to help you where you are today and where you want to be tomorrow.
My foundation of yoga is Tantric based. Tantra yoga is actually not sexual, rather, the goal of tantra yoga is to awaken and harmonize the male and female aspects within each person. Balance, The word Tantra in Sanskrit means weaving. Yoga.. "union" They are very similar indeed.
We Tantric Yogi's weave all the things we have learned, tricks on our path, various methods, experiences, skills and we use this in our very own life. And though this, we teach others.
Since we are all individuals with different pasts, it is important to know many different paths we can take when practicing yoga.
What hurts? Why is it hurting? What can we do to help that pain go away? , ie pains, stress, illness, limitations etc etc. Yoga therapy offers that.
Yoga therapy is like studying the tree of life itself. Instead of limiting itself to any single branch of the tree, it's learning many schools of thought and weaving it all together. I have had almost 10 years of learning behind me. As an active member of International Association of Yoga Therapists, I also make sure that I am in touch with leading doctors and yoga therapists world wide.
My classes are private classes to either an individual or to a small group. I hold workshops and I will have my first Immersion on Yoga Therapy in early 2012, a great way to see how you can bring yoga therapy to your daily life, maybe even share with others.
I work closely with the medical community in developing holistic and preventative health programs. I work with clients with cancer, diabetes, heart disease, back pain, obesity, shoulder, knee and hip injuries, fibromyalgia and more. I am registered with Yoga Alliance and the International Association of Yoga therapists.
IAYT supports research and education in Yoga, and serves as a professional organization for Yoga teachers and Yoga therapists worldwide. Their mission is to establish Yoga as a recognized and respected therapy.
I attend SYTAR The Symposium of Yoga Therapy and Research annually. This event brings for the lastest Yoga in the medical and therapy fields.
I came to Panama to bring Yoga Therapy to those who need it most. As a Yoga Therapist, I like to work with those who not only want to feel better they need to feel better both inside and out. Yoga offers both.
I love sharing what I know. I love seeing people stretch and smile. I love hearing that people feel better. I love knowing they sleep better. I love that people share what I teach them.
I think yoga should be fun and not frightening; enlightening and not intimidating. My classes are intense and informative. My goal is that you will be able to use what you learn in class with me at home when you need to relax, stretch or just want to touch your toes!
At the end of the day we all want feel better and so I help you open up on the out side so you can open up on the inside.
